Publishing and your live site
My changes aren't on the live site
Saving doesn't publish. Select Publish on any dashboard page (My Website, Menu Manager, Deals & Promos, Hours & Location, Website Settings), or Publish now on the unpublished-changes banner. Any of them publishes the whole site. Still missing? Items and deals set to Draft never appear, so set them to Active and publish again. See Publishing model.
Publish says "Publish failed"
Check your connection and try again. If it keeps failing, the venue probably has no plan. Your account's free website needs an active tap card or a device order that hasn't been refunded (see Orders & cards); any other venue needs its own subscription (see Billing & subscription).
My site shows "Page not found"
Your site isn't published. Usual causes: it was never published, someone selected Unpublish on My Website, a subscription ended or a trial expired on a venue that isn't your free website, or your account lost its free website (its cards were transferred or retired and its device order refunded). Sort out the plan if needed, then publish again. Tabern never republishes for you. If you just changed your subdomain, the old address shows this page too; see Subdomains & URLs.
Account and sign-in
Can't sign in
Wrong password? Use Forgot password? on the sign-in page rather than guessing. Not sure which email you used? Look for your Tabern welcome or order emails. Full walkthrough: Sign in & recovery.
Verification or reset email missing
Check your spam folder first. For a verification email, select Resend email on the "Please verify your email address" banner in your dashboard. If a link says it's invalid or expired, sign in and resend. For a password reset, request a new one from Forgot password?. Either way, use the link in the newest email.
Menu and uploads
There's no Scan Menu button
The AI menu scanner is part of the paid plan. On the free plan, Menu Manager hides Scan Menu. See Billing & subscription.
Menu scanner produced junk
Re-shoot with even lighting, no glare, and the menu flat and filling the frame, then scan again. You review the result before anything is added to your menu. See Menu scanner.
Scan takes forever or times out
Keep the tab open while the scan runs. Files must be PDF, JPG, or PNG, up to 10 MB each. If it times out, try again with fewer or smaller files.
Image upload does nothing
The file is probably the wrong type or too big. Uploads must be PNG, JPEG, or WebP and 10 MB or less, even where a picker offers SVG. A rejected file is skipped without a message. Details: Media requirements.
Booking and Google
Booking page says "Reservations integration needs an update"
The saved OpenTable link is a widget-loader address, which your booking page can't show. In Settings → Integrations, replace it with your restaurant's direct OpenTable booking page link. Integration changes publish your site automatically. See Booking setup.
Booking page says "Online booking isn't available yet"
No booking integration is connected. Connect one in Settings → Integrations. See Booking setup.
Google reviews not showing
In Settings → Integrations, open your Google Business Profile, select Sync reviews now, and turn on Show reviews on your website. Then publish: the toggle only reaches your live site when you publish. Reviews refresh when you sync, not on their own. See Google Business Profile.
Google connect fails
Retry the sign-in and pick the correct business location. If you manage locations under more than one Google account, sign in with the one that owns the profile.
Rewards and kiosks
A page says "Upgrade to unlock"
Rewards, Members, Kiosks, and Notifications are part of the paid plan. The free website shows an upgrade panel on those pages. See Billing & subscription.
The rewards page or Rewards link is missing
Your site only links to rewards when the venue is on the paid plan and the card isn't paused. In Customers → Rewards, check for Resume card (the card is paused) and select it. Saving, pausing, or resuming the card publishes your site automatically; if you upgraded after your last publish, publish once more.
Scanner says "Incorrect PIN or kiosk unavailable."
Either the PIN is wrong, the kiosk is disabled, or the kiosk is locked: five wrong PINs lock it for 15 minutes. Wait it out, or in Customers → Kiosks select Reset PIN on that kiosk, which also clears the lock. A disabled kiosk needs to be enabled again on the same page. An unlock lasts up to 8 hours. After that, or after a PIN reset, the scanner says "Kiosk session expired or was revoked." and asks for the PIN again. See Kiosks.
Scanner says "No member matches that code."
Check the code for typos, and that the guest is a member of this venue. The scanner only finds Active members. Look the guest up in Customers → Members: a Paused member needs you to set them Active, and an Unsubscribed member just needs to sign in again on your rewards page. If every code fails, reload the scanner page and unlock it again with the PIN, and check that the venue is still on the paid plan and the card isn't paused.
Scanner camera won't start
Allow camera access for the scanner in the tablet's browser, then try again. Typing the member code works in the meantime. See Scanner operation.
A member's progress looks wrong
A second scan within 60 seconds is ignored by design, and changing your highest Visits to earn moves members to a new point on the card. To fix a missed or doubled scan, open the member in Customers → Members and use Add visit or Undo last visit under Fix visits. See Rewards model.
A new reward wasn't used on the same visit
That's correct. A reward earned on a visit is used at the member's next approved check-in, never the same one. See Rewards model.
A guest didn't get their sign-in code
The email's subject starts with the 6-digit code. Ask them to check spam. A new code can be requested after 60 seconds; each code works for 10 minutes and stops after 5 wrong tries. Where shown, Continue with Google or Continue with Apple skips the code.
Wallet passes
A location says "Coordinates needed"
Google Wallet nearby notifications and Apple Wallet location alerts need each location's latitude and longitude. In Hours & Location, edit the location and pick the address from the suggestions (that fills Latitude and Longitude), or type them in, then save. Back in Customers → Notifications, open the Google Wallet or Apple Wallet settings, choose up to 10 locations, and select Save Settings. See Wallet passes.
Custom domains and tap cards
Custom domain stuck on "Waiting for DNS"
Open Continue setup and add the records exactly as shown at your domain company. Delete any old A, AAAA, or CNAME records for the same names first. On Cloudflare, set the records to DNS only (grey cloud). DNS changes usually appear within an hour; select Check again to recheck. After 7 days without the records, the status changes to Needs attention: fix the record marked, then check again. See Custom domain.
Tap card says "This card isn't live yet"
The card is activated but not linked to a venue. Sign in, open Orders & cards, and pick a venue under Choose a venue for that card. Or tap the card while signed in and use Link this card to a venue. See Orders & cards.
Tap card says the venue "is coming soon"
The card is linked, but the venue isn't live: it isn't published, or it has no plan. Publish the venue from My Website. If publishing fails, see "Publish says 'Publish failed'" above.
Tap card says "This card is turned off"
The card was deactivated. Select Turn on next to it in Orders & cards.
Still stuck?
Open a support ticket from Help & Support in your account menu (see Community). Include your venue subdomain, what you tried, and what you expected. It gets you a faster answer.
