Sharing & SEO

Control how your site looks when shared, set your favicon and subdomain, and see what Tabern does for search engines automatically.

Video walkthrough coming soonThe written steps below cover everything in the meantime.

Open Settings → Website Settings. The Share Link Settings section is open by default. Beside it, Share Link Preview shows roughly how your link looks when it's pasted into a text message or social post, and it updates as you type.

  1. Open Settings → Website Settings.

  2. In Share Link Settings, set the Share Title and Share Description.

  3. Under Share Link Image, click Choose image. 1200 × 630 is the recommended size.

  4. Under Favicon, click Choose favicon to set the small icon shown in browser tabs. A square PNG works best.

  5. Click Save, then Publish.

Your subdomain

Your site lives at yoursubdomain.tabern.app. To change it, open Settings → Website Settings, expand Subdomain Settings, type the new name in Subdomain (the full address shows under the field), and click Save. If the name is taken or reserved, Save shows an error.

Want a domain you own instead, like joesbar.com? See Custom domain (paid plan).

Menu item and deal pages

Every item on your published menu gets its own page under /restaurant/menu/, and every published deal gets one under /restaurant/deals/. You don't create them: they appear when you publish, and guests reach them by tapping an item or deal on your site.

  • Each page has its own title and description, and uses the item or deal photo as its share image. Sharing one dish shows that dish in the preview.
  • The address is built from the name plus a short code. If you rename an item or deal, the old address forwards to the new one, so shared links keep working.
  • When you remove an item or deal and publish, its page goes away.

What SEO Tabern handles for you

Your published site ships with the technical basics done. You don't configure any of it.

  • Titles and descriptions on every page. Your home page description is built from your tagline, menu intro, and address.
  • Canonical addresses and a mobile-friendly layout.
  • Structured data (schema.org) that tells search engines your restaurant's name, address, hours, menu, deals, booking link, and rewards program.
  • A sitemap at /sitemap.xml listing your pages, including every menu item and deal page, plus a /robots.txt that points to it.
  • Files for AI assistants: /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt summarize your restaurant, /menu.md is your menu as plain text with prices, and /menu.json is your menu as structured data.

All of this is built from your published site and refreshes when you publish. An unpublished site has none of it.

What you control

  • Name and tagline: the text in search snippets and share cards.
  • Share image: high-quality food or interior shots perform best.
  • Favicon: your browser-tab icon.
  • Item and deal photos: the share images for those pages.
  • Your address: your subdomain, or your own custom domain.

Getting found

  • Use your real venue name. People search for names, not descriptions.
  • Keep your hours and address current. Search engines and guests both read them.
  • Connect your Google Business Profile in Settings → Integrations to keep your Google presence aligned with your Tabern site. See Google Business Profile.
