Media requirements

Accepted image formats, the size limit, recommended sizes, and how replacing an image works.

Upload rules

  • Formats: PNG, JPEG, and WebP only.
  • Size limit: 10 MB per file.
  • Rejected files: a file that breaks either rule isn't uploaded, and the slot stays as it was. Some upload buttons let you pick SVG or ICO files, and a few hints mention SVG or 5 MB, but the two rules above are what Tabern actually enforces.
  • No processing: Tabern stores your image exactly as uploaded. It doesn't resize or compress it, so export photos at a sensible size first. Big files load slowly on phones.
  • Where: you upload right where the image is used, in My Website, Website Settings, Menu Manager, Deals & Promos, and Customers → Rewards. There's no separate media library page.

Recommendations by slot

Sizes below are the ones the dashboard suggests. Where it doesn't suggest one, none is listed.

  • Background Images (My Website) — 1440 × 800. Add several to rotate them.
  • Share Link Image (Website Settings) — 1200 × 630 for link previews. This is your first background image, not a separate one. Uploading or removing it in Website Settings replaces your whole set of background images, so if you rotate several, manage them in My Website instead.
  • Logo Asset (My Website) — use a PNG.
  • Story Gallery (My Website) — 3 to 8 photos.
  • Favicon (Website Settings) — optional browser tab icon. Use a square PNG.
  • Item and deal images (Menu Manager, Deals & Promos) — JPG, PNG, or WebP. No size suggested.
  • Card background (Customers → Rewards) — 1200 × 630, up to 5 images.
  • Pass logo (Customers → Rewards) — scaled to fit 64 × 40.
  • Strip image (Customers → Rewards) — 375 × 123, the banner behind the visit count on the wallet pass.
  • Notification icon (Customers → Rewards) — square.

Replacing and removing images

To replace an image, select Remove image (the × on the preview), then upload the new file. Removing an image only clears that slot. It doesn't affect other places using the same picture.

Like any other edit, a new or removed image only reaches your live site when you publish. Until then, guests keep seeing the old one.

Storage

Tabern stores your uploads for you. There are no files or folders to manage.
